It highlights current biomonitoring studies on their accumulation in human organs and tissues. The article also examines findings from Russian and Soviet studies on the effects of xenobiotics on the human body. Research on the acute toxicity of these substances peaked in the 1960s–1970s, while studies on their chronic effects began to emerge in the 1980s–1990s. Currently, such studies are extremely scarce.</p>
</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>persistent organic pollutants</kwd><kwd>biomonitoring</kwd><kwd>human health</kwd><kwd>body impact</kwd><kwd>USSR</kwd><kwd>Russia</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>стойкие органические загрязнители</kwd><kwd>биомониторинг</kwd><kwd>здоровье человека</kwd><kwd>влияние на организм</kwd><kwd>СССР</kwd><kwd>Россия</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="zh"><kwd>持久性有机污染物</kwd><kwd>生物监测</kwd><kwd>人体健康</kwd><kwd>对机体的影响</kwd><kwd>苏联</kwd><kwd>俄罗斯</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><award-group><funding-source><institution-wrap><institution xml:lang="ru">Министерство науки и высшего образования Российской Федерации</institution></institution-wrap><institution-wrap><institution xml:lang="en">Russian Ministry of Education and Science</institution></institution-wrap></funding-source></award-group></funding-group></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>UNEP.
