Morphometric parameters (body length and weight (BW), chest circumference, and Quetelet index) were determined. The respiratory system was assessed using the Valenta+ hardware and software system and the Spiro-S-100 portable spirograph.</p> <p>RESULTS: The data obtained showed that over the past decade, a significant increase in BW has been accompanied by a significant decrease in expiratory reserve volume (ERV), as well as a trend toward decreased respiratory bronchial patency (BFR). Similar differences in respiratory patterns were observed between students with normal and elevated BW in 2020-2022: students with elevated BW showed significantly higher ERV and lower airflow in the respiratory bronchioles.</p> <p>CONCLUSION: A significant increase in BW in students is associated with negative changes in respiratory parameters such as lung volumes and airway patency, which reduces respiratory system performance.</p>
<trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>Обоснование. </p></trans-abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="zh"><p/></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>respiratory system parameters</kwd><kwd>Yakut young men</kwd><kwd>body mass index.</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>показатели системы внешнего дыхания</kwd><kwd>юноши-якуты</kwd><kwd>индекс массы тела.</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group/></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>1.
