METABOLIC RISK FACTORS CHRONIC NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASES AMONG INDIGENOUS RURAL POPULATION OF YAKUTIA

Klimova T.M., Fedorova V.I., Baltakhinova M.E.

Abstract

A cross-sectional epidemiological study has been conducted among indigenous population in two villages of the Republic Sakha (Yakutia). Simple random sampling has been formed with use of a random number generator in Excel according to lists of households. There have been examined 619 people aged 20 years and older representing the indigenous ethnic groups of Yakutia (yakuts, evens, evenki). Using standard methods, prevalence of metabolic chronic non-communicable diseases’ risk factors and their interactions have been studied. Multiple metabolic risk factors were found in 29 % of the patients. It has been established that abdominal obesity is a significant contributor to development of metabolic disorders among the indigenous rural population of Yakutia.

IMPORTANCE OF ETHNIC DIFFERENCES OF THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF THE NORTH WITH REGARD TO THE CHILDREN’S CHRONIC TONSILLITIS

Belov V.A., Voropaeva Y.V., Kobrinskiy B.A.

Abstract

This article delivers an analysis of the chronic tonsillitis prevalence on the territory of the Russian Federation for the federal districts and in different ethnic groups of children’s population living in the North (Near the Arctic and the Arctic regions). The study has been conducted on the base of an analysis of information received from the Federal Children’s Health Examination Monitoring Database for 5 years (2005—2009). Statistically-valid higher prevalence of the chronic tonsillitis among the children of the indigenous people of the North has been detected. Considering such specificity as reduced cell energy exchange among the indigenous (Mongoloid) population which was formed as a result of centuries-long adaptation to the climatic extremes, a guess has been made that cell energy exchange contributed to formation of the chronic tonsillitis in the children.

PSYCHICAL AND VEGETATIVE DISORDERS OF COMPOUND TECHNICAL SYSTEM OPERATORS AS A RESULT OF PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY

Ilina A.V., Babaytsev S.A., Bloschinskiy I.A., Bogdanov N.N., Makarov A.K.

Abstract

One of the main objectives of maritime medicine is to reduce morbidity among operators of compound technical systems. It is known that chronic stress is one of the reasons of somatic disease development in this category of persons. In the article, the autonomic, mental, and emotional status of deep-sea facilities operators with different duration of professional activity have been integrally assessed. According to the results of the analysis of these indicators, there have been detected peculiarities of psycho-vegetative status depending on duration of exposure to stress factors; and have been identified the “target organs” for development of pathology in the operators with different experience.

CLIMATE CHANGE AND CONDITIONS OF LIFE IN THE ARCTIC IN PERCEPTION OF NENETS ON ISLAND VAIGACH

Davydov A.N., Mikhailova G.V.

Abstract

The Arctic climate change influences significantly the environment, economic activity and public health. As the northern peoples, traditions and cultural identity are closely related to the natural environment, any change will have consequences for the society in several ways. Methods: A questionnaire was distributed among the Nenets on Island Vaigach who rely to a large degree on hunting, fishing and reindeer herding for survival. Semi-structured interviews about perception of climate change were also conducted. Results: Climate change was observed and has already had an impact on the Nenets everyday life according to more than 50 % of the respondents. Winter seasons are now colder and longer and summer seasons are colder and shorter than ever. A decrease in the standard of living was noticeable, but few were planning to leave. Conclusion: Climate change has been noticed in the region and it has a negative impact on the standard of living for the Nenets. However, they do not want to leave the Island as cultural identity is important for their overall well-being.

HUMAN ADAPTATION TO HELIOGEOPHYSICAL DISTURBANCES AGAINST THE BACKGROUND OF PRECIPITATING FACTORS

Babaeva M.I., Rogacheva S.M., Vishnevskey V.V.

Abstract

The effect of smoking on the capacity of an organism to adapt to heliogeophysical perturbations was studied. Monitoring data were analyzed using the automatic search of group effects. It has been shown that the cardiovascular system of smoking men was more reactive than the same system of smoking women, and men possessed lower abilities to adapt to the natural and anthropogenic factors effects.

PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL-BEING OF POPULATION OF MONOPROFILE TOWN OF EUROPEAN NORTH

Kashkina L.V.

Abstract

The article presents results of a psychological study of the population of the monoprofile town of Novodvinsk which, as any monoprofile towns, is a special socio-territorial community. The specificity of this type of settlement gives an opportunity to study psychological well-being in renditions of certain territorial, political, economic and cultural isolation, what, firstly, provides priority of «local» problems in the minds of people; secondly, increases significance of such a factor as psychological well-being of population in monoprofile towns. Most studies of monoprofile towns are connected with research of socio-economic and environmental aspects. But it is also worthwhile noting that problems of psychological well-being, subjective well-being, socio-psychological adaptation and socio-cultural self-determination within the framework of social relations in monoprofile towns have not been studied enough.

COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE UTERINE TUBES SMOOTH MUSCLE MORPHOPHYSIOLOGICAL ORGANIZATION IN ECTOPIC PREGNANCY AND IN HEALTHY NONPREGNANT WOMEN

Zashikhin A.L., Istomina N.G., Agafonov Y.V., Baranov A.N.

Abstract

Smooth muscle cells (SMC) of the human uterine tube isthmus have been studied in two groups — healthy nonpregnant women who underwent surgical sterilization and patients with ectopic (ampullar) pregnancies. The method of target cell dissociation was used. An analysis was performed using the methods of morphometry and quantitative histochemistry (including the analysis of nuclear DNA content, and cytoplasmic protein content). Three types of myocytes with different structural-metabolic parameters have been revealed. The comparative analysis of intact and affected SM of the tubal isthmus demonstrated changes in the structure of leiomyocytes population, optic density of cytoplasmic protein and proliferative activity of myocytes.
