SIGNIFICANCE OF VESSEL RIGIDITY IN PATHOGENESIS OF ARRHYTHMIA AND ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION

Ivanova M.A., Ivanova O.M.

Abstract

A research goal was to explain relations among the arterial wall rigidity, hypertension, arrhythmias, professional pathologies. It has been detected that they were relative. That is why combined antihypertensive therapy including salidiuretics can have an antiarrhythmic effect. Rigidity of elastic arteries does not necessarily increase with aging in hypertension patients. In some professional pathologies, decreased vessel elasticity can be a sanogenetic reaction protecting against hypertension. But this protection does not work if heart rate is increased. The features of human vessel elasticity because of human evolution peculiarities can be explained by adaptation to the environment and to the changes of the arterial wall and blood plasma chemical composition.

DISTRIBUTION OF SOMATOTYPES AND TIME OF SEXUAL DEVELOPMENT OF YOUNG PEOPLE IN URBAN AND RURAL AREAS OF ALTAI REGION

Filatova O.V.

Abstract

The antropometric and body composition examination of 500 healthy young people (17-21 years old) - residents of Barnaul and the Altai Territory countryside has been performed. Differences in physical status of the Altai Territory young people depending on residence in urban or rural areas have been detected, they were manifested in a bigger body length, weight, girth of chest, hip circumference, leg length of the city dwellers. A somatotypological analysis has revealed predominance of a normosthenic somatotype among the examined persons. Young men living in the rural areas had a more andromorphous constitution, more timely tempo of sexual development. The results will constitute a basis of the formed Altai regional database.

MAXILLOFACIAL TRAUMA IN CHILDREN

Bragina V.G., Gorbatova L.N.

Abstract

In the review, we have examined the issues of maxillofacial traumatism in children and adolescents both in Russia and abroad. It has been noted that domestic researchers did not pay sufficient attention to this issue, although the problem of traumatism is still urgent. Special attention in prevention of maxillofacial injuries in children should be given to social factors.

FEATURES OF SUICIDE DYUNAMICS AND CYCLICITY AND HELIOGEOPHYSICAL AND ANTHROPOGENIC FACTORS IN KOLA NORTH

Kasatkina E.A., Shumilov O.I., Novikova T.B., Chramov A.V.

Abstract

The suicide dynamics of three towns of the Murmansk oblast (Apatity, Kirovsk, Monchegorsk) from 1967 till 2010 has been analyzed. It has been shown that the complex of heliogeophysical and man-made factors seemed to influence the suicide dynamics in the high latitudes. The variety of suicide occurrence showed periodicities close to the main solar cycles. At the same time, a simultaneous decrease of suicide occurrence observed in three towns during 1985-1991 was probably connected with the beginning of the “anti-alcohol campaign”. A statistically significant (r s = 0,8; p = 0,005) correlation dependence of the suicide dynamics in Monchegorsk on the amount of atmospheric emissions of Cu by the biggest Russian nickel-copper smelter “Severonikel” in the period 1995-2009 has been detected.

DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICS AND NORMALITY TESTING FOR QUANTITATIVE DATA

Subbotina A.V., Grjibovski A.M.

Abstract

In this article we explain types of data, main principles of testing for normality and descriptive statistics for quantitative data using Stata software. Using real examples, we present step-by-step analysis of data and presentation of descriptive statistics. This article continues a series of publications on basic biostatistics initiated in the previous issue of the journal. This series of papers can be used as a manual for analyzing the data from biomedical studies.
