Arterialhypertension(AH)is a riskfactor for negativecognitiveconsequences.Atwhatagehypertensionbegins to affectthestate of cognitivefunctions is unknown.

Aim. To study the effect of elevatedbloodpressureoncognitivefunctions in middle-agedpeopleby evaluating the auditory event-related potentials Р300.

Materials and methods.Thestudyinvolvedpeopleaged45-59yearswithhypertension(n=102)andwithouthypertension(n=100)livinginArkhangelsk.There are threeageperiods:45-49years old,50-54years old,55-59years old. There are 2groupsineachagegroup:groupIis a control group consistingofpeoplewithouthypertensionandgroupIIispeoplewithhypertension of the appropriateage. The registration of componentsP300andN2 was carried out on the Neuron-Spektr-4/VPMelectroencephalograph(Neurosoft,Russia),using the oddballparadigm. Blood pressure(BP) was measured with an automatictonometerA&DMedicalUA-668(Japan).

Results. At the age of 45-49, peoplewithAHand with a duration of AH of 5years showed nodifferencesin the latency (LТ) of N2andP300and the magnitude of the amplitude of P300comparedwith the controlgroup. At the age of 50-54, peoplewithAHand the duration of AH was 8years, there was a decrease in the amplitude of P300in the parietal(P4)region on the right comparedwith the controlgroup of thisage. At55-59years of age withAHand a duration of AH of 9,7years, there was a decrease in the amplitude of P300in the parietal(P3, P4),central(C3, C4),frontal(F3, F4)brain regions, an increase in LТN2in the parietal(P3) region on the left, anterotemporal (F7) region on theleft,frontal(F4) department on the right.

Conclusion. In the middle age, people with AH experienced a decrease in attention resources from the age of 50-54, and a decrease in attention resources and a slowdown in the rate of differentiation and recognition of a sound stimulus from the age of 55-59.
